Stories[]
Ariadne had feelings for Theseus, a Demi-God Hero, and when he came to Crete, she helped him enter and find his way out of a maze, using a yarn of wool.
The two later sailed to the island of Naxos together where they spent the night, however during Ariadne's sleep, Theseus got called on by Athena to complete a mission, so Theseus left Naxos, leaving Ariadne by herself. A heartbroken Ariadne considered committing suicide by hanging herself, but Dionysus, the patron God of the island, who fell in love with her, saved her and the two later married. The couple had two sons, Staphylus and Oenepion, the legendary King of Chios, both of whom were Demi-Gods. Dionysus who had given Ariadne a wedding gift of an Amethyst Tiara, eventually turned this into a constellation in the sky, Corona Borealis. Ariadne's mortal life ended when she either hung herself or got killed by either Artemis or Perseus. However, Dionysus, would later journey to the underworld to bring back his mother, Semele and late wife, Ariadne to the living realm, as Goddesses and Ariadne became the Olympian Goddess of mazes, paths, passion, forgiveness, snakes and vegetation.
