Arke is the Goddess of the faded second rainbow, she was also the messenger to the Titan Gods in Greek Mythology.

Genealogy and Family[]

Arke is a daughter of the couple, Electra and Thaumas, who are both marine deities. She is a sister of Iris, The Harpies and Hydaspes.

Synopsis[]

In the Titanomachy (Titan Wars), Arke allied with the Titan Gods and became their messenger, whilst her twin sister, Iris joined the Olympian Gods as their messenger, when the Titans lost the war to the Olympian Gods, Cronus and his allies, including Arke, were jailed in Tartarus by Zeus and Zeus also ripped off Arke's wings. Her wings were eventually given as a present to Thetis and Peleus, as a wedding gift and Thetis would later give these wings to her son, Achilles. According to some accounts, Arke may have escaped or was freed from Tartarus.

Appearance and Personality[]

Arke is a youthful, beautiful woman like Iris, she used to have iridescent wings, before her imprisonment.

From the point of view of the Olympians, Arke would be seen as treacherous and foolish, and worthy of her harsh punishment.

Skills and Abilities[]

Like many Gods and Goddesses, Arke possesses eternal youth, immortality and resistance to sickness, old age, death and tiredness. She can live underwater and on land and used to be able to fly, until her wings were removed, she is creator of the second, faded rainbow which is often seen with the main rainbow.

Relationships[]

Zeus- Arke allied with Zeus' enemies, The Titans in the Titanomachy, and thus became his enemy. After Zeus, and his allies defeated the Titans in the ten year war, he imprisoned Arke in Tartarus and removed her iridescent wings. Showing that Zeus hated her just like all the other Titans that allied with Cronus.

Iris- Arke is the twin sister of Iris, though they grew up together, Iris was perhaps Arke's greatest rival and enemy as the two joined opposing sides in the Titanomachy. It is possible that Arke was jealous of Iris, because she was more special and popular than her. At least after her imprisonment in Tartarus, it is unknown if Arke showed remorse for her actions and reconciled with her sister.

Role and Significance[]

Arke represents the faded second rainbow often seen beside the rainbow, she was also the messenger of Cronus.

Like many Titans and her sister, Iris, she was not worshipped in Ancient Greece.
