Bia is the goddess and personification of force, power, might and strength in Greek Mythology.

Genealogy and Family[]

Bia is a daughter of the river goddess Styx and the Titan god of warcraft, Pallas, she is sister to Nike, Kratus, Zelus, Scylla and also the fountains and lakes. In rare accounts, she is a half-sister of Persephone and Echidna, through her mother, Styx. Bia was never recorded as marrying nor having children in the myths.

Role[]

She is the goddess of force and power, who having helped the Olympians with her siblings, Kratus, Nike and Zelus in the Titan Wars, became one of Zeus' constant companions. In Mount Olympus she was almost always seen beside Zeus as he sat on his throne, she is tasked with enforcing Zeus's orders whenever he required an act of strength.

Stories[]

Along with their mother, Bia and her siblings helped Zeus in his war against the Titans. The war, which was referred to as the Titanomachy, lasted for ten years, with the Olympian gods emerging victorious.

Bia

Bia also played a pivotal role in the story of Prometheus. After the Titan God, Prometheus had broken the rule of not giving fire to the humans- Zeus decided to punish him by chaining the god to a rock in the Caucasus mountains where vultures would pluck out and eat Prometheus' liver in front of him for all eternity, with each night his liver growing back, leaving the god to suffer every day in perpetual torment. Bia and her brother, Kratos, were sent to carry out Zeus' punishment for Prometheus but Bia was the only one strong enough to actually bind Prometheus to the rock with the unbreakable chains.

Appearance and Personality[]

Bia is a quiet and stoic goddess, who is usually silent in the myths. She appears as a beautiful, youthful, radiant and powerful goddess, sometimes holding a torch of fire, bow and arrow or sword. She is on her guard and always ready in the face of battle. Sometimes she is depicted with wings.
