Carpo (also known as Carpho, Karpo and Xarpo) is the goddess and personification of autumn, ripening and harvesting plants. Carpo is also the guardian of the clouds in Mount Olympus, letting back the clouds if one of the gods left. She is a member of The Horae, being within the first triad.


Genealogy and Family[]

She is usually considered to be the daughter of Zeus and Themis. She is the sister of Thallo, Auxo, Dike, Eunomia, Irene, Pherusa, Orthosie and Euporie, who are her fellow members of The Horae. The Graces are her half sisters.

Role and Significance[]

As well as being the goddess in charge of the autumn, and the harvesting and ripening of plants, she was also an attendant to Persephone, Aphrodite and Hera, and was also associated with Dionysus, Apollo and Pan.

Karpo was worshipped in Athens alongside the goddesses Auxo and Hegemone.

Trivia[]

Her Greek name is Καρπω which means fruit.

She has a very similar name to Karpos, the son of the gods, Zephyrus and Khloris.

Carpo is very similiar to Hegemone in duties and powers.
