Electra, (also called Ozomene) is a female figure in Greek Mythology. In most sources she is stated to be an Oceanid, a daughter of Oceanus and Tethys and perhaps also the Goddess of storm and/or sun-coloured clouds.


Genealogy and Family[]

Electra is a daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, she married the ancient sea God, Thaumas and became the mother of Iris, Arke, Aello, Celaeno and Ocypete. She also gave birth to Iris' brother, Hydaspes. The river that they gave birth to Iris was named after Hydaspes. 

Trivia[]

Electra is a book too, written by another author besides Homer. And is very successful and lots of people in Mount Olympus enjoy reading it. 

Electra's name, Ηλεκτρη means amber.

Her other name, Ozomene/Οζομενη can be translated to strong branches.

Her daughter, Iris, is also associated with clouds.
