Galatea is a Nereid (Sea Nymph). Galatea was the main female character in the myth, Acis and Galatea, which told a story of her being in love with a mortal man named Acis, who was jealously killed by Galatea's admirer, Polyphemus, a Cyclops. Galatea then turned Acis into an Immortal River Spirit.
