The Asclepiades are a sisterhood of five goddesses, Iaso, Aceso, Hygieia, Panacea and Aegle, who specialise in healing, treatment, medicine and remedies. They are attendants to their father, Asclepius, the god of healing, medicine, rejuvenation and physicians, assisting him in the treatment and recovery of humans.
Members[]
The members were recorded as five daughters of Asclepius with his wife, Epione, a minor goddess-possibly of the care needed in recovery. Although according to one account the goddess Aegle's mother is Lampetia, a Thrinacian Sun Nymph instead:
Iaso- The goddess of recuperation from illness.
Aceso- The goddess of the healing process.
Hygieia- The goddess of good health, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Aegle-The goddess of radiant good health.
Panacea- The goddess of the universal remedy
Role[]
Each goddess with her own speciality were believed to work with their father, Asclepius.
They were often said to join their father at night, looking, checking on and diagnosing humans and also helping them heal and recover-with medicine whilst the humans were fast asleep.
Trivia[]
